Endovascular Hemostasis
Typical Use
Achieve rapid hemostasis at large bore arterial access sites after catheterization.
Description
Devices such as collagen plugs, suture mediated systems, or clip based closures deployed at femoral or radial arterial puncture sites to achieve hemostasis and enable earlier ambulation compared with manual compression, commonly used after diagnostic angiography and interventional procedures. Device selection considers sheath size, anticoagulation status, and operator experience, and proper deployment technique reduces complications such as hematoma, pseudoaneurysm, or arterial occlusion. Postprocedure monitoring for limb perfusion and access site complications is essential, and protocols guide device use and patient discharge criteria.
