Supraglottic Airway Adapter

Category

Airway Management

Typical Use

Connect supraglottic devices to ventilation circuits and monitors.

Description

A connector and adapter assembly that links laryngeal mask airways or other supraglottic devices to breathing circuits, ventilators, and monitoring equipment, ensuring secure ventilation and enabling capnography and pressure monitoring during anesthesia or emergency airway management. Adapters are sized to match device and circuit standards and must provide low resistance flow while maintaining a tight seal to prevent leak and aspiration risk; correct selection reduces dead space and optimizes ventilation efficiency. Routine inspection for cracks, secure fit, and compatibility with filters and heat moisture exchangers is necessary to maintain infection control and respiratory performance. Use of standardized adapters simplifies equipment setup in high acuity environments and supports rapid transition between manual and mechanical ventilation modes.
