Clamping
Typical Use
Occlude bleeding vessels temporarily.
Description
A locking clamp used to grasp and occlude small blood vessels or tissue during surgical procedures to control bleeding until definitive ligation or cautery is performed. Hemostats are fundamental instruments in virtually all surgical specialties and come in various sizes and curvatures to access different anatomic sites. Correct placement, secure locking, and awareness of surrounding structures are essential to prevent inadvertent injury and to maintain a clear operative field. After use, hemostats must be cleaned, sterilized, and inspected for proper jaw alignment and locking mechanism function.
