Typical Use
Freeze and ablate tissue (e.g., lesions, tumors).
Description
A probe that delivers extreme cold via liquid nitrogen or argon gas to freeze and ablate abnormal tissue such as skin lesions, tumors, or endometrial tissue, inducing cell death through ice crystal formation and vascular stasis. Cryotherapy is used in dermatology, gynecology, and interventional radiology for minimally invasive tissue destruction with relatively rapid recovery and limited bleeding. Probe selection, freeze thaw cycles, and monitoring of adjacent structures are important to achieve adequate ablation while preserving surrounding healthy tissue. Postprocedure care includes wound management, infection prevention, and follow up to assess treatment response and need for additional therapy.
