Measure intracranial pressure continuously in traumatic brain injury and hydrocephalus.
Description
Devices such as intraparenchymal transducers, external ventricular drains with pressure transducers, or subdural sensors that provide continuous numeric and waveform data on intracranial pressure to guide management of elevated intracranial pressure, cerebral perfusion optimization, and therapeutic interventions in traumatic brain injury, intracranial hemorrhage, and hydrocephalus. ICP monitoring informs decisions on sedation, osmotherapy, cerebrospinal fluid drainage, and decompressive surgery; accurate zeroing, calibration, and infection prevention during catheter care are critical. Integration of ICP trends with neurologic exam, imaging, and systemic physiology supports individualized neurocritical care and prognostication.
