Diagnostic Neurophysiology
Typical Use
Record cortical electrical activity for seizure and encephalopathy evaluation.
Description
A multi channel amplifier and recording system that acquires electrical signals from scalp electrodes placed according to standardized montages to assess brain electrical activity for epilepsy diagnosis, encephalopathy evaluation, sleep disorders, and intraoperative monitoring. EEG interpretation requires recognition of normal variants, artifacts, and pathologic patterns such as epileptiform discharges or diffuse slowing; prolonged or ambulatory EEG and video EEG monitoring increase diagnostic yield for paroxysmal events. Proper electrode application, impedance checks, and patient preparation optimize signal quality, and integration with clinical history and imaging enhances diagnostic accuracy and treatment planning.
