Microdebrider

Typical Use

Resect soft tissue and polyps with simultaneous suction during endoscopic sinus and laryngeal surgery.

Description

A powered rotary cutting device with an integrated suction channel that shaves and aspirates soft tissue such as nasal polyps or laryngeal lesions under endoscopic visualization, allowing precise tissue removal with reduced bleeding and improved operative field clarity. Microdebriders come with various blade shapes and sizes to match anatomic sites and pathology, and their use shortens operative time and enhances mucosal preservation compared with traditional instruments. Proper training in blade selection, rotational speed, and suction settings is necessary to avoid inadvertent injury to adjacent structures, and strict sterilization protocols prevent cross contamination. Microdebrider assisted surgery is widely adopted in functional endoscopic sinus surgery and select laryngeal procedures for improved outcomes and recovery.
