Neonatal CPAP System

Category

Neonatology Respiratory Support

Typical Use

Provide noninvasive respiratory support for preterm infants with respiratory distress.

Description

A system that delivers continuous positive airway pressure via nasal prongs or mask to maintain functional residual capacity, reduce apnea of prematurity, and support gas exchange in preterm and term neonates with respiratory compromise, often used as first line support in NICUs. Neonatal CPAP requires careful interface selection, pressure titration, and monitoring for nasal injury, gastric distension, and oxygenation; protocols guide escalation to mechanical ventilation when indicated. CPAP supports lung recruitment while avoiding intubation related risks and is integrated into comprehensive neonatal respiratory care strategies.
