Respiratory Support
Typical Use
Deliver high concentration supplemental oxygen in acute hypoxemia.
Description
A face mask with a reservoir bag and one way valves that provides high inspired oxygen fractions FiO2 for patients with moderate to severe hypoxemia while allowing exhaled gas to escape through exhalation ports, used in emergency and prehospital settings for rapid oxygenation. Proper fit, reservoir inflation, and flow rates are necessary to achieve intended oxygen delivery, and monitoring for respiratory fatigue and need for escalation to advanced airway support is essential. Non rebreather masks are a temporizing measure and require reassessment and oxygen titration based on clinical response and oxygen saturation.
